Updated Data: Health Insurance Coverage

The following health insurance coverage datasets have been updated and are now current through 2011. These were previously called People's Health Insurance and Children's Health Insurance:

We've also switched the source of these data to the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, which is more accurate at the state level than our previous source, the Current Population Survey.

New Data: Title I Expenditures

There's a new education dataset available in the Federal Priorities Database:

The database also tracks Title I revenue amounts at the school district level: http://data.nationalpriorities.org/other/schooldistrict/.

Updated Data: Housing Occupancy

The following datasets related to housing occupancy are now current throught 2010. In addition, the source of these data has been changed to the Census Bureau's American Community Survey. The data are available at the state level and go back to 2005.

  • Housing Units: the total number of available housing units, along with the percent occupied and percent vacant
  • Housing Owners and Renters: the percentage of occupied units that are occupied by owners and by renters

Updated Data: WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children)

The following datasets related to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are now current through fiscal year 2011. The data are available at the state level and go back to fiscal year 2005.

Updated Data: TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

The following dataset is now current through fiscal year 2011. The data are available at the state level.

  • TANF (Cash Assistance) Participation: the average number of individuals and families receiving cash assistance each month under Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or its predecessor, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC).
