Notes and Sources
Number and percentage of people estimated to be living in poverty during a given year. Data are based on the Census Bureau's annual American Community Survey (pre-2005 data is based on the Bureau's Current Population Survey). The U.S. poverty thresholds change annually and are published here. Data are available at the state level and go back to 1980.
