Percentage of households with difficulty at some time during the year providing enough food for all members due to a lack of resources. A subset of food insecure households, those with very low food security, experienced reduced food intake and disrupted eating patterns. The yearly food security report is published by the USDA using data from the Census Bureau's annual Current Population Survey.
Important: the USDA uses 3-year averages when providing this data for individual states and factors in margin of error when comparing between states. Please use caution when comparing these single year numbers between states and years. Data are available at the state level and go back to 2001.
